I just made some changes to my enclosure, i wana see what you all think about the hide...i just had a pile of moss, placed in the corner directly above the heating pad. I had one of those half logs placed in same corner as the moss, but i had that issue with a lil fungus growing on the plastron. So, im reluctant to place the hide in same corner, worrying the rising moisture (humidity) will cause issues again. So i added a flower pot moved it to opposite corner, and put the moss in it. Well, now the baby just sit in the corner, above the heating pad with no moss and ignores his new hide...any suggestions? Before and after pics...

I would give her a dryer hide there. Or, you can wait it out and see if she gives in and uses the hide in its new place.

I'm thinking that some of the more experienced keepers are advising a CHE rather than a heating pad. If I recall, the heat from above is more like the sun providing heat.

Nice looking tort!

Please correct me if I'm wrong about the heat from below.

Hey Will and Barb, i use the heating pad for humidity no really heat. I have MVB which heats quite well. Just happens that the ground is also very warm there. Although, after thinking a bit more, the last hide i had was the half log thingy from petsmart, so it had a open bottom and the plastron laid on substrate and the heat rising rose right onto the tort. Since im using a flower pot now, perhaps itll wick up the sides of the pot. Maybe i can move it back across the tank, im just scared of shell rot. Im probably just worrying too much..lol

Add some plants......and you will help your humidity. Live or fake. Live will work better but if you add even fake and mist them it will help.
