How do you introduce your tortoise to its new home?

I'm going to be getting my first tortoise in a few days. I just want to know how I should introduce him into his new home. Should I soak him first? Give food? I dunno..

I just put mine in last night and they walked around was eating and drinking after I set the tank up

If it is being shipped overnight, I would personally soak it first, for hydration purposes and put it in its new home at the proper temp/humidity if applicable.
I would also have appropriate foods available for the species.
