I currently own a male Russian Tortoise, Oscar, a family pet that was neglected for years that has recently been taken strictly into my care, as the rest of the family were not providing correct husbandry and dietary nutrition. I am making an effort to correct this.

I was wondering what is the correct size portions of food I should be providing him daily? I feel like I am providing too much. He is currently on a diet of Spring Mix and collard greens, with the occasional dandelion leaves and small vegetables. (Tomato, carrot, cucumber).

You need to add some fiber. Instead of spring mix use escarole or endive most of the time. Spring mix once in a while. Kale collard and mustard greens occasionally. Variety is key. Cactus, arugula, and radish or carrot tops are also very good.
Also mix in some zoo med grassland tortoise food. Just a little, and soak it in water so it is mushy. This is all assuming weeds and leaves, which are better choices, are not available. As long as you feed a good healthy diet, feed all he will eat. They are grazers, and should have food available all day.
The veggies are not good. Once in a blue moon, as a treat, only.

By “veggies,” Jodie means the carrots, tomato, and cucumber. Just to be sure we’re all clear! Those are definitely foods that should be given rarely.
