How think about my enclosure?

Hello all.

i'm a novice breeder.
1 mounth ago, i bring tortoise.
so i have many worried.
please see my enclosure, and give me you'r advice.


1. automatic temperature

2. UVB Lamp (14-hour intervals turn-on/off)

3. every day 28'C ~ 30'C / 40% ~ 60%

4. estern herman (5cm and 22g)

5. usually feed : Pak Choi, chicory, young pumpkin

6. plese, another advice.

Is it OK??

That's a very nice enclosure and a good size for the size of the tortoise, however, I'd like to make a couple of suggestions.

As you know, tortoise bodies don't bend, as they're stuck inside a hard shell. So it is very difficult for that little non bending body to get any water out of that dish. I like to use plant saucers sunk down into the substrate, saucers like this:

And if the saucer is too deep and he might drown if he falls over backwards in it, I place some small pebbles in the bottom of it.

The other suggestion I have for you is the light. Those compact fluorescent bulbs have been known to harm baby tortoise's eyes. If you can figure out a way to mount it horizontally, it's not as bad, but I would just get rid of it and use one of these for UVB:
