Hygrometer keeps breaking...

I think the humidity of my redfoot enclosure is too much for digital hygrometers. Even though I'm careful to never mist them directly, after a week or so they always become garbled and display numbers upside down. o_o

Are there any good analog hygrometers? I've always read that they tend to be inaccurate.

You've encountered the problem with the digitals, sorry

I no longer use them for extended periods in my redfoots enclosure either. Heat and humidity are heck on electronics. Amazingly my digital thermostat keeps working.

Instead I've gone back to using the analog one's, but I calibrate them first.

if you follow that thread down there's some links on more accurate ways to calibrate, but it an all practicality a brand-new digital is probably close enough for a reference for the quick and easy.

I've been meaning to get into a cigar shop to look for some better quality mechanical types.

i use a caliber III that is supposed to be for cigar boxes, i haven't had any problems with either one. they display the current temp and humidity, and with a click of the buttons you can view the highs and lows of both temp and humidity within a 24 hour period. i've actually accidentally splashed large amounts of water on one of them on several occasions, and i was sure it was broken quite a few times, but it is always within a degree or right on with my husband's temp gun. i honestly don't know how it's still working though, i wouldn't recommend purposely getting them wet lol! i either got it off ebay or amazon, both were less than $20 apiece. i highly recommend them!
