I was in the snow trying to dig to find a good flat rock to use as a basking area for my future tortoise. It was in my russian's outdoor kiddie pool enclosure under a foot of snow. Should I boil it? And do I just boil water and plop it in?

i personally just wash it off with hot water. i suppose you could boil it or wash it with white vinegar but i don't think it's necessary.

You can rinse it with hot water like stinax suggested. You can also soak it in hot water or add some bleach or vinegar to the soak. I've only done that when I knew the rock was contaminated with something (mite eggs).

I would just wash it off with hot water. If you use bleach or anything else, be sure to rinse it really good.
