Yeah, that's right, you read it correctly... I GOT PEED ON BY MY TORT!!

I have been nursing him back to health, soaking him, lots of sunshine... you know, all the good stuff. Well, it must be working cause I picked him up to keep him out of the way of my 1 year old and I got drenched in what I can only assume to be copious amounts of tortoise pee!! YUCK! (but also yay that he is obviously hydrating )

Its a defense thing.. can be stress induced.
When a large preadator try to carry them away, they pee to make them dislike what they got.. and they can hopefully get a way.
at least that is how i understand it. In time he will learn you are not a threat.

I know you think you are not a threat. You would never do anything to hurt them.. but They dont know that.. Imagine gettnig picked up by a huge godzilla, one you cant understand... We are predators to them.. until they learn we mean no harm and are food gods..
us being a threat to them is not a bash to anyone.. its how the torts see us humans until they learn.
