Hello!!! I am looking for a Russian Tortoise hatchling for my stepdaughter. She has been doing her research and has decided this is the breed she wants, for its size and temperament.
Do any of you have any hatchlings you are looking to sell/adopt to a good, loving home? Thank you!

Welcome! :D Russian torts are pretty cute, and some can be very bold. They are known for their personality!
I must add a few words, though...:( Hatchling tortoises are delicate, and raising one can be difficult and heartbreaking :(!
They do need space to wander, also. Russains love wandering, so while he may be cute and small now, he's going to need a lot of space! :)
Here is the For Sale Forum-

(TortoiseSupply.com) sells ADORABLE russian tort babies, too)
Here is a SUPER thorough caresheet-

...And a diet sheet-

All the very best luck if you get one! :D

Thanks for the info!!! Maybe I used the wrong term ... If I find a baby russian tortoise from on online seller, are those technically considered 'hatchlings'? I found an adorable 'baby russian tortoise' that is listed as 1 1/4 - 1 1/2" in size. Is that a 'safer' tortoise to start with or is that still a 'hatchling'? Sorry, just a Mom trying to cover all my bases here for my daughter!!!

I would start with an older tortoise, either a juvenile or adult. Babies are delicate, and the effects of care magnified. If it's not just right, the results can be heartbreaking. Older ones are already proven survivors and tolerate our learning curve better. But yes, get a Russian tortoise.

That is indeed a hatchling! :D
A 'baby' can still count as a very small size, too...
Juvenile russians should be between 3-5 inches, but after that, both male and female can really be counted as adults... you can start to tell the gender then too, although they do have to grow up a wee bit more before they 'could' breed. :)

If you're still looking for a Russian tortoise I have a Russian tortoise that i need to find a home for, she's actually mine but since I'm moving off to college and can't take her I need to find her a good home before I go. I've had her since I was 12 so she's 5 now, she's still small and I won't be needing any of her stuff so I'd be willing to give you the cage I built, her heating lamp, her food bowl and water dish as well.
I'd just need you to promise that you'll take good care of her please. She means a lot to me and I really wish I could keep her, thank you.
