It's a box turtle. I'm not good at IDing which kind. I think an ornate box turtle

I'm pretty sure he's an eastern! Thanks everybody! I'll definitely leave him be, I just moved him out of the road and somewhere there's some shade so he won't roast. He seems to be happy, he even made a little burrow in our garden!

Very pretty. I am always jealous of those who see them. I grew up in the poconos and we never ever saw any box turtles. It's too bad their habitat is declining so badly.
