An adult needs closer to a 4x8. But you can look into raised garden beds or stock tanks or pop up portable greenhouses.

I'm just new to tortoises, but I wish I'd known about Animal Plastics' enclosures before I bought the one I have. Looks like they have 72'x30" ones.

What kind are you looking to build?

Your tortoise was 8 years old, right? Is there any way you could make the enclousure bigger? Like an L or U shape? A double decker is an option too, but hard to make to work.

How long is your tortoise going to spend in this enclosure, before he gets to go out again?

Yes my indoor space is limited to 6 foot by 3 foot. I may be able to make a L but the part sticking out could only be like 2-3 feet out. My tort is 8 years old

That's all the space I have inside I got a good sized outdoor one but its too cold now

I think if you have a large outdoor space, and your tortoise is mostly going to be inside on its way too and from brumation, you're probably OK. Are you planning on keeping it awake over the winter?

FYI, I created a "habitrail" out of store-bought tortoise houses. I don't recommend this, but it can give you some ideas. YOu would want 6-8 ish of these to have enough space.

Some people also take a thrift store bookcase, lie it on its back, like it, remove the shelves (or create doorways in the shelves) to get space that way

Think about making an L shape or maybe a loft, it doesn't need to be a whole 2nd floor. The bigger the better, it would be great if you could achieve the minimum size of 4 x 8 feet.

With bookcases the only problem is that the depth is sometimes insufficient with enough substrate.
