Introducing Stella and Vinny

I got these from a friend recently. Along with a pair of Eastern Tiger Salamanders. No pics yet of the sallies, but here are some of the boxies.

They are in the backyard in a temp 7x2 pen I through together with some parts from my kids old wood swing set... The long term pen should be done in another week or 2.

This is the young male, Vinny. He's pretty shy and definately doesn't like his pic taken. Will only eat if you are not watching...

This is the ~30 yr old Stella. She's quite the character and LOVES chasing crickets and chomping snails! NOM!

lol.. She does have a great look on her face.. If only we could read her mind.. :) Wow 30 years old?? Guess I never thought about it before but how long do box turtles live?

box turtles can live a long time, 50 plus years. I had one that was 38 years old and she was still laying eggs and healthy.

Still laying eggs at 38. :cool: . That a girl.. :D Do turtles or torts ever get egg bound like birds? I mean do you have to worry about that problem? sorry chad didn't mean to hijack the thread with questions.. lol..

someone in my turtle club just had her 32 year old box turtle lay her first clutch of eggs, so I guess they are some late bloomers also.

Awww they're lovely !!! I can just see in the pics that Stella is the outgoing one...she looks mischievous hehehe. Lovely looking :)
