Boris has been with us a week, and what a difference! His face is a bit darker than the top of his head. Is getting this dark normal? He had no UV before, dune sand substrate (in the left photo), limited water, and on a romaine only diet. Is his current color more to what to expect with a Russian? Collage 2018-05-23 11_57_57.jpg

Mine is actually named Boris as well, and the female's name is Natalya, both from the movie Goldeneye.

If that was the conditions and diet he was enduring, I think he looks nothing short of amazing. The after photo is WORLDS better, he is adjusting well thanks to good care. Color looks fine to me, I see no real pyramiding, good cypress substrate, so I wouldn't be concerned. Looks like you are doing just fine.

He was lighter on sand because he had a coating of sand dust all over him. He looks so much better now.
