I don't expect anyone to respond but I have a baby marginated tortoise and because of the current covid-19 pandemic i cant find a vet to give him/her a checkup on their health, I was hoping someone has more experience than me and isnt as biased as me. I heard that mbd is common and i want to play it safe with Otis, hes 9 months old

Otis is very pretty! We won't be able to tell if there's MBD just by looking at pictures. But I can tell you what you need to stave it off: A GOOD UVB light and calcium! The two work in conjunction with each other. I take a small pinch of calcium powder between thumb and index finger and sprinkle it over the food about three times a week. The UVB light I like best is the tube type fluorescent light, then I use a CHE or a RHP for heat:

If your Tortoise is eating, pooping, and active then Skip the vet visit. Most vets don't know much about tortoises and they'll try to sell you on stuff that's not needed and can actually your harm tort, like vitamin shots.
