Is my Hermanns tortoise a male or female?

Hey guys, I'm new to this thread, but not new to having a tortoise!



I've had this little guy for over a year now, having hatched in febuary of 2012 it is still a pretty young tortoise. I'm not sure if it is mature enough to properly sex, but if so i'd love to know what sex you guys think it is. Personally I think I have little girl on my hands, but all opinions are appreicated!

I'm not an expert BUT I think it's a female.

All tortoises look female when they're young, so it's pretty hard to tell at this age.

Once it hits about 4" ask again...likely 2014 or 2015

I am also new and have the same problem! My tortoise, Mr T, is a Hermanns tortoise and he is 4 on the 1st of September. I was wondering if someone could also identify the sex of him please? I think 'he' may actually be a little girl!

I would guess female but it's still early

Hatched in February? Hermann's tortoises hatch during summer, like July to September.

Anyway, at one year it's too early to tell.

Captive bred/hatched one, parents likely had not been hibernated.
