Thank you so much!! I will definitely do that!!It seems silly to me, but I don't see any harm in it.
-Do be careful as the tortoise can easily slip out of that and disappear.
-When taking the tortoise outside, the tortoise should be in a well designed, escape proof, safe enclosure at all times. At no time should the tortoise just be out loose in the yard. If you do that, you will eventually lose your tortoise, and it feels awful. Everyone who does this thinks they are watching closely and that nothing bad will happen. All of them were correct right up until the day they were wrong, and then it was too late. Don't learn this lesson the hard way.
Probably, covering shell is okay. I always thought they absorb UV mostly through their skin (legs, neck).Probably the hardest part is trying to put it on. Also, remember that he won't benefit from the natural UVB from the sun if he is wearing anything.
Maybe I was too harsh. But some of the benefit is lost and probably the ability to heat up under the sun is hindered.Probably, covering shell is okay. I always thought they absorb UV mostly through their skin (legs, neck).
Hmmm. Now THERE's a consideration.I would be worried about him catching it on a branch or something, and then getting tangled up and maybe hurting himself trying to get away.
