We came across this desert plant today but I'm not sure what kind it is, or if it is safe for my desert tortoise to eat. Does anyone know what it is?

I think that’s a phacelia that’s gone to seed. Lacy phacelia is a popular desert tortoise plant but perhaps only when it’s blooming.
The Tortoise Table lists this as a no feed but bear in mind they are very convservative, especially plants they don’t know much about.
If you are in Southern California, Tree of Life nursery is a good place to go; they can identify everything they sell and you can look it up on your phone while you’re there.

That is awesome! Thank you so much Rosemary! I've been having to feed her more store bought greens than I'd like, but we don't have much growing here in the high desert.
