Looks like there is something either on one side or inside that is keeping his mouth from being able to close all the way in a biting snap. He seems to be able to close it slowly, normally, but not in a biting snap. I don't know what to tell you other than try to open his mouth and give it a close inspection. If you don't see anything, then maybe a trip to the vet is in order. Its good that you have the video. Take it to the vet with you.

It might be related, however, I can't picture in my mind what you cut off, so I don't know. Is the stub that you left attached inhibiting his mouth closing?

Or perhaps when you cut off the scale, it left a cut or sore, making it hurt too much to eat. At the begging it looks as if he is wincing when he tries to bite.

You should take him to a vet. I would advise never cutting anything on him again. To self vet at home is a really bad idea unless you are 1000% sure you know exactly what you are doing.

I hope he heals and gets better for you.

I think in this case any Vet can look at his mouth. You don't need a reptile Vet.

When was the last time he ate? Can we spoon feed Torts like we do with Birds with maybe Tort Chow mush and a pipet? At least his body will have something to process while he heals.

Ohh that is so painful to watch :( I hope the little guy gets better soon!
I like webskipper's idea of offering him mush.

Yes, you must either get him to a vet or find a way for him to eat, or he may starve to death while you wait. Poor Jared.

I've seen some people buy medicine syringes (The kind without needles) and load em up with baby food and slowly squirt it into the tort's mouth.

We hope he pulls through. It is good that you are taking him so early. One of my tortoise died the morning of the day I was bringing him to the vet.

At least he wants to eat. so I would say it is something to do with his jaw, I will hope for you that he is better, and here is hoping it is something minor like a hurt jaw, and will heal soon on it's own.

Well, congratulations, but I would still take him to the vet whenever you can if his jaw still hurts.
