My leopard tortoise currently likes to munch on my grass but I'm thinking of switching my grass to a more drought tolerant Kurapia. Does anyone know if it's ok for them to eat it? I don't don't want to get rid of my grass if it's not ok for them to graze on it like grass is.20220511_151354.jpg

Sooo,

Kurapia is a low-growing, herbaceous, perennial groundcover belonging to the Verbanaceae or Verbena family. The species [Phyla (Lippia) nodiflora (L.) E. Greene] is native or naturalized to California, but is considered invasive.

And from the Tortoise Table….

Although there is no evidence of toxicity or harmful properties for most species of Verbena, it is best to be cautious and feed only sparingly as part of a varied diet.

Some sources say that one species of Verbena (Verbena bonariensis) common names (Purpletop Vervain, Tall Verbena) is toxic and should not be fed, so ensure that you have correctly identified your plant.

Id say check more sources out before you do the swicheroo.

My guess is that it wouldn't be palatable and he won't eat it.
