I need a lid for my hatchling ten gallon tank. I need it so the humidity stays in. Any ideas?

Can you get some plexiglass and cut it down to fit on your tank?

A bigger tank is needed. Ten gallons is way too small for any tort. There is no way of getting all the different temps needed on that small of an enclosure. Go to home depot, Menards, walmart, lowes and get a 50 gallon tote. They are cheap and better suited for a while. To help keep in humidity, use the lid that comes with the tote and cut holes out where the lights and heating hang over. You can line the rim of the hole with tin foil if you are worried about the plastic melting from the heating elements.

What Barb said! 10 gallons is too small for any sized tortoise. Depending on what kind and how big your tort is, totes make a great, cheap housing solution. You can also get a larger tank if we're talking a hatchling/juvenile or a small species--in which case, you still want to aim for at least 40 gallons (may seem large for a tiny hatchling, but it gives them room to grow.. not to mention how active they can be!). With totes, as Barb suggested, you have your built in humidity-retaining lid; just cut holes for the lights. With a large enough tank, you can build a plexiglass lid or similar, just be sure to leave some ventilation for air exchange.

Aah, I see. Could you get a screen top and line most of it with foil or suran wrap? Just leave a small area for ventilation and whatever space you need for your light(s)? Should be fairly easy to do..
