I am going to buy 2 400 Watt grow lamps for my winter indoor inclosure. I'm sure it's good enough to grow all sorts of goodys but would that work as a uv bulb for artificial sun
It depends on the spectrum and intestity that they give off. It most likely will not give off uv in the range that a tortoise would need. Be careful. 800 watts of plant lighting is a lot for a tortoise to be exposed to, and it might even be harmful to their eyes.
Yea i agree with Tom, that can be harmful.
How high do you plan on setting them, i would suggest as high as possible, and try to get your tortoise to
natural sun as well if the weather permits
7' but I have to rethink my lighting it won't work. You guys are right. Thanks I asked the store I bought them from and they said it may harm him and that it was way more than I need for the area. I'm only gonna grow stuff in a 5' by 5' area. I'm just trying to get it all figured out well before winter gets here. I got time I just want everything done a year prior to putting her in there permanently so I know there's no cold spots. Damn now that I think about it does anyone think cement would get to cold in the winter? The room will be heated but cement tends to stay cold. Outside will be below 0° at times. The room will be the right temp but if the cement might be to cold for him I will build the floor up. Any thoughts???
