It is just liquid vitamin D3. You can use a human vitamin instead the same way and save some bucks. For example- http://www.puritan.com/d-vitamins-534/liquid-vitamin-d-3-5000-iu-030405?NewPage=1 lets you get 2 2oz (4 oz. total) bottles for under $10 (or 5 bottles for $19!), compared to 0.3oz for $7.99 for Solar Drops from PetSmart on sale on-line. In other words, Solar Drops will run you $106 for 4 oz of the same type of vitamins. Can we say 'Pet Store Mark Up"?

This is an example of why I almost never buy anything from a pet store! (The calcium, multivitamins, substrate, etc. are often similarly overpriced.)

To determine safe dosages, check out http://www.tortoiselibrary.com/nutguide.html

Just a suggestion. Can you put your tortoise in the sun? Natural sunlight is great for them.
