I was looking for a male gulf coast box turtle and a friend of ours brought me one today that they rescued.

Nice turtle. Are you sure it's a gulf coast? I didn't know they got that dark. I have 3 toed box turtles

It looks like it.
But I could be wrong.
I just got him tonight so tomorrow I might be able to identify him correctly.

He may very well be a gulf coast. I don't know anything about them. I just thought they were lighter in color like my 3 toes

My female is light colored.
He is a little dirty so I will clean him up tomorrow.
Any tips on introducing him to her?

First I'd take a poop sample to your vet to make sure It doesn't have parasites. My vet charges $20 for that if it's just a poop sample and not the animal.
