Miles is now 9 months old!!!! How did that happen so quick? He is still loving life in his enclosure! 6x3 with Arcadia uvb light, 2 flood incandescent lights and a Che for the night during winter here. Substrate is reptobark and orchid bark (hard to find on the east coast) How do you think his shell is looking? Just cleaned and refreshed his home.

I don't like the pebbles/gravel and rocks. I also don't like the paint tray. I think its too big and the vertical sides are too steep for such a small tortoise. The substrate also looks very wet. If it was recently sprayed for the picture, its probably fine, but something to consider if not.

Miles is showing mild pyramiding. It looks like the open top and lack of a humid hide is not holding in enough humidity. What type of lights are you using? Some types, like MVBs or spot bulbs, dry out the carapace excessively.

Overall the enclosure looks super cool, fun, and inviting. Its obvious you've spent considerable time making it and maintaining it. It just might need some tweaks to make it function a little better.

It’s closed just open for the picture. I just added some soaked orchid bark today and got everything nice and moist. I have a large saucer for him. I understand the Little Rock’s not being liked but why the big ones? I have Arcadia tube uvb and incandescent flood bulbs for heat. I’m all for making his home the best possible

He feels pretty smooth to me. I’m not sure if it’s just the angle of his coloring. Here is a new pic let me know about the pyramiding

Looks better from this angle and this angle is the one that matters. It very well may be the coloring and shading that makes it look worse in the first round of pics.
