I feed moist mazuri daily and there's always some left on the plates. I have a large Tupperware bowl that I soak the plates in before cleaning them to use again. Sometimes I don't clean them every day. Just use different plates. I have learned that mosquitos are drawn to the sour water and lay eggs in it.KIMG3604~2.JPGI took this picture a couple days ago for a neighbor that didn't know what mosquito eggs look like. I have always left standing water out just for the mosquitos to lay eggs in. Check it daily and if eggs are in them I dump it out and refill them. Now I add mazuri to the water because for some reason female mosquitoes love it. Today the Tupperware bowl had at least 25 egg casings floating in it. Each set of those little black things has about 100 mosquitoes in it. So today I killed over 2000 mosquitos using just Mazuri and water.

Neat pic Len!

Yeah, when it's 90F out and the humidity is hovering at 80%, the mosquitoes do pretty well in the Mid-Atlantic.

Over here on the Eastern Shore, they can be thick and aggressive so anything you do on that side is appreciated! LOL

We use Thermacells....and I learned to hack/refill the butane tanks & the chem pads, making it. a cheap effective solution.
Here's a pic:

I never knew that many were in one egg, yikes! I can't say I have ever seen eggs, I always see them when they are squiggly little worm looking things. At least I think they are mosquitoes.
Nice work!

I have a doggie pool in my backyard for Ruger. He loves it; my other 2 just drink from it occasionally.

When I set it up I thought I could get by without chlorinating it. Boy, was I wrong! One day I looked and there were thousands of mosquito larvae flitting about. It holds about 200 gallons of water, so there was plenty of space for a few thousand more!

Pool chlorine and algaecide are my best friends now!

These dunks reportedly work very very well.

Measuring and testing the water is a pain, so these look like a great alternative.

Unfortunately Ruger would eat it! 😠

Koi in the pool will take care of the mosquitos. My Koi pond is what eliminates most of mine. I just get bit from something living down in the weeds and bites my ankles.

I learned about mosquito eggs a long time ago back in the 50s. My grandmother had tropical fish and used the hatched mosquitos as fish food. The eggs last a long time if kept dry and let them hatch out in water when you need small fish food.

They work and if you're using it in a small amount of water you can break a small piece of the donut off instead of putting a whole one in.

I like that idea, but I think Ruger likes going fishing! He puts his head under water and blows bubbles, and tries to pick up anything he sees on the bottom.
