Nemo and Ollie are both 4 inches and 7 years old, they each have a 40 breeder tank ( I am figuring out ATBA's for them)

Ollie is a False map who came into the rescue with shell rot, These days he is just having trouble shedding, maps are notorious for this.

Nemo was chewed on by another turtle before he came to the rescue as a result we get a lot of comments that he is a female.

They are each running a canister filter, Ollie is running one for a 100 gallon, Nemo for a 75 gallon. I can't remember the GPH turnover at the moment.

Ollies tank looks dirty because Some of the mineral deposits that had built up on his filter parts got knocked off as a readjusted.

Very pretty. I love the speckles on the first one.

Thank you, Unfortunately Ollie doesn't get many compliments, People view map turtles as plain and he has shell issues on top of it :(

Ollie is the first one Nemo is the Second, Nemo is the painted with the bright coloring. I don't really see much coloring on Ollies Sides.

Sorry...I meant I love the speckles on the drab-colored turtle.

You are fine, I should have labeled who was who :)

I love my boys they are so different, Nemo is my mass murderer, He will take out a dozen fish in a night if I let him, he will not go in his shell if picked up and he happily kicks and hisses when I do have to handle him, and he hates his veggies.

Ollie Goes in his shell and rarely hisses, He is all about his veggies ( except romaine, he is not a fan) and he takes forever to eat his feeder fish.

My daughter had a soft shell turtle like that. She would buy a dozen or so small minnows and put them in his tank. He'd catch them all. He would have a big fat bumpy neck and the tail of one sticking out his mouth. Big pig.

Maps can be prone to shell issues, because they tend to shed less often than other semi-aquatic, basking species. I am not personally sure if it is correlated to their living in cleaner, fast moving water compared to the bodies of water normally inhabited by Painted Turtles, for instance.
