My new Russians

Here's my new Russians I got them last night and this morning I moved them to my 220 for a TEMPORARY setup I know I have to cover the sides of the glass and I know I need uvb the person I got them from had them in a wood tortoise table that had no uvb and the substrate was bone dry, so I added water to the substrate made a humid hide with coco coir here's pics of what I have so far I'll be getting uvb bulb today

I don't usually cover the side of my tanks. You might not need to either.


You got a pair? I hope you will be separating them soon. They should not be housed as a pair. Sexes don't matter.

The one thing I see that you really do need to change is that ramped water bowl. It is a flipping/drowning hazard. A few months ago another member came home and found her russian tortoise upside down and drowned in that exact same bowl. Terra cotta plant saucers sunk into the substrate only cost a couple of bucks and they are safer and more effective.

Are you soaking these guys? I would soak them every other day for a few weeks, given their history.

Yea I soaked them both today for 30 min I'll do the every other day thing, yea I'm going to build a tortoise table that is an L shape that will have a wall between them so if I do want to breed I can but this way he won't kill her, or bug her all the time I told my wife they need two separate cages, when I told her its because he's going to try to breed all the time she told me she know how that felt lol any way I'll keep the pics and updates coming just got to work out width of my L tank
