Cute baby! I think the advice around here is usually to not trim nails, but instead to offer rough surfaces in the enclosure (like a concrete paving stone) to help naturally file down the nails. My young tortoise had needle-sharp claws when I got him, but they have now worn down with use into shorter, less pointy nails.
Nails of normal length for a species can be worn down naturally by the right surfaces.
But once they are overgrown, they can cause abnormal gait or snagging and being torn from the nail bed.
If he were mine, it would be past time for a trim.
Thanks, she has rock and stuff in her enclosure that seem to keep the front nails a nice length. when she stands on the hard surfaces it looks like her nails where twisting over before she got her foot flat if you understand what I mean what I mean.
