hahaha, noo, I don't really NEED a sulcata tortoise :p The opportunity presented itself and I emailed him just to see what he was asking... didn't realize it was going to be an arm or a leg... guess it's a good thing because like I said, I don't need another tortoise

Haha, it's $160 with tortoise and stuff, $120 for just tortoise, which is still kind of high in my opinion.

BUT I did try to lower the price and all I got was "let me know when you get the money because I would like him to go to you so I will hold him for you."................. don't know how to respond to that :p

Just tell them you aren't willing to spend that much money on their tortoise when you can get one from an excellent breeder PLUS shipping (probably) for that price. Maybe they just don't know the going rate? Maybe THEY got ripped off.

Yea i've seen several people lately who think they are sitting on tortoise gold for whatever reason. There's only one way to deal with them in my opinion, just tell them what you're willing to pay, if they don't like it then let them know they have your info if they change their mind and that's it. No reason to sit there and negotiate with them. I went to a reptile show today and a guy had some 3" sulcatas for 200 bucks, the booth next to him had hatchlings for 50 and they were taking 40 since it was at the end so buy the 40 dollar one and wait a few months and viola you have a 200 dollar tortoise! lol

He's posted about the little guy on three different occasions and he still won't lower his price. I will just let him try and find him a home and if he doesn't, he will probably email me back with some sort of negotiation :p
