Thank you everyone here for your help. I think it was because of less sunlight, sudden weather change and maybe because he lost his actual hideout after 6 years that he didn't eat or anything. But he has started eating again, and is eating quite well.

I sincerely thank everyone here for there help and suggestions.

You might very well be right, tortoises don't like change and any change may cause them to not eat.

Okay I'll separate them immediately, as for the light I kept it on for 4 hours today, but he only went in light for about 1hr 30 mins something....he later went to the shady area to sleep.
You are supposed to be his boss...it doesn't matter what he wants, it matters what is best for him and 8 to 12 hours of light rays is necessary...doesn't matter if he gets under the light on not...whatever the light rays are called, will bounce around in there and give him what he needs even if he's in the shade...also he's sleeping so much because he's not feeling well...sleeping is no judgement on this physical being...

Your Dad said " he seemed sad and lazy when we were away but that must be because he was missing us."
He does not have the capacity to miss anyone...he's sick...also, I have had many tortoises, all are waiting at their food station when it's breakfast time, your's is sick, that why you have to wake him up to eat...also a 5 year old most probably should only eat once a day...please read the information I gave you...that tells exactly how your tortoise needs to be kept...He will stay sick until you change the way he is kept...

I would again like yo thank everyone for you help, time and advice. I am sorry but I have another question.
For his enclosure, we added cocopeat and sand as his substrate and kept a bold of water (imitation of a pond) for him to drink water from. Aside from this, it is in the balcony so he get adequate sunlight. But during night it get quite cold here.. so is it fine we we bring them back in for the night in their usual indoor hideout (made with cloth)? Also we have added a 30 cm long fence kind of thing and divided the balcony into two half, one for him and other for our female tortoise.

Is this arrangement okay? Do I need any more changes?

Also here's are Pics of him eating happily!

No sand, it can cause impaction...just orchid bark, or coir, is enuf...they will eat sand...your cocopeat alone is fine, wet it then pack it all down...here my torts need heat at night while they are sleeping...70 to 75 degrees.

Okay. Previously we had sand in there so that must be the reason he used to eat it. I won't add sand then. Is just cocopeat and orchid bark fine?

This is not good. They definitely need to be kept warm, but not together the same old way.

And loose in the house is very dangerous. They can swallow odd items that are on the floor that you are unaware of. Or get stepped on or kicked.

It is possible that he has an impaction that is making him so he doesn't want to eat. Has eaten today? Has your mom been able to get more food into him?

We don't actually let them roam in the entire house. There is a small room which we have allocated for them. It has an attached balcony so that they can go out and come back as they wish. They stay their almost the entire day. It has a place for their food and an imitated pond for them to drink water from. We take them out of the room only to soak them or if they aren't feeling well. recently the temperature here dropped down so we started bringing them to their cloth house. We do so every year during monsoon and winter seasons.

Also, yes he ate quite nicely today. We gave him a mix of cucumbers, cilantro, carrots and tortoise food. Also he seems to be back to normal now, playing around with his ball and pooping nicely.
