Hey folks, Just recently purchased a nice acrylic box for my Sulcata tortoise. It measures a length of 30" and a width of 12" giving Walnut, my tortoise, a decent space for his size since he is currently only 5" at the moment. It is a great home for my tortoise but seems quite dull and an unnatural habitat for my pet. I want to make the habitat as natural as possible so advice would be much appreciated to sprice up her habitat. :)
Thanks!

Here are some pictures of the enclosure, Ive already placed some natural soil in the floor area.

I do not think that is big enough even for a 5" tortoise. You need a basking lamp, UVB, a hide, and a rock or something to bask on. That is what you NEED. To make it more natural you can add plants and other rocks to make the enclosure less boring. But you do need a bigger enclosure even now.

Thanks for the tips! Although would a basking lamp still be a necessity if the box is sitting right next to a window with a decent amount of sunlight all throughout the day?

From my country, The Philippines, we never really experience cold
weather and we receive 77 to 95 Fahrenheit on average all through out the year, so I just want to know if the basking lamp is still a necessity.

Well depending if the window is close or not because it might filter the UV lights that he needs to thrive. Nothing beats having to go outside and basking though, maybe consider building an outside enclosure where you can put him out there for a large amount of time, supervised of course.

The basking temperature for a sulcata needs to be over 100 degrees. Light shining in through a window will not achieve this.

You also need the UV bulb. Windows filter out UV rays.

With such great year round temperatures you should set up an outdoor enclosure for your sully to spend lots of time in. If you provide regular outside time in natural UN filtered sunlight then you do not need the UV bulb inside.
Regardless you will absolutely need a baking light.

and yes a basking lamps are always essential, I live in california where it's sunny all day. it's in their nature to bask and you never know if temps. are too low for the little guy. They need the extra heat to help facilitate digestion.
