I finally got an Aldabra Tortoise! It is only 4 months old and weighs 300g. It is round and very smooth. I hope it grows well and heals. Need a lot of humidity? What is the best substrate and lamp for heat and UV? Thank you very much!

Very cute, congrats. Why does it have to heal?
A closed chamber wouldn't hurt. I like the mercury vapor bulbs for uvb and heat used for the basking spot. If you can get him outside for natural sun at least every other day you would need uvb. Temps not lower then 80 with the same humidity, 80%. I like coconut coir, peat moss or orchard bark for substrates.

I have tried to contact Aldabraman several times to help me get a tortoise and he has never answered ... Many thanks Wellington for all your advice and help. Luckily the tortoise is very healthy and eats a lot.

They are pretty much housed the same as sulcatas and leopards when young. Warm soaks daily too.

Welcome to the world of Aldabras.
They can be fun. The 80/80 rule is good advice. 80f and 80% humidity. Soaks in warm 90f water often. They do not digest food well if their body temp goes under 80.

Good variety of greens. I also give mine a piece of cooked squash once a month ( not the seeds ) . Mazuri tortoise food is helpful also.

Good fortune with her.

I'm worried about the piramyding.

~ He/She is bumpy, my guess based on the growth rate and white x on his shell it is an import. Bumpy probably because they are fed heavy to reach the 4" marks in order to be imported legally. All natural diet, ample exercise levels, good hydration and allow the tortoise to thermal regulate in the natural sun and new growth should be good.

Thank you very much to everyone for your help. I thank you from the heart. The tortoise was imported from Seychelles, but it takes 4 months in Spain. It is quite smooth and rounded.. .As for food, which would be the most correct? I read that they eat carrots and some fruit in addition to green plants.

Thanks Welligton for the feed table. Today I bathed for the first time and cleaned the marks and the X of the shell. I do not look so bumpy ... although it is the first Aldabra tortoise I see. What lamp do you recommend me to keep it inside?

Hello! Since a few weeks ago my Aldabra is in the interior since here in Spain it is cold. However, the tortoise is not very active and eats little ... I maintain a temperature of 26ºc for the day and 20ºc for the night. As a substrate, I use pine bark. As a lighting I use a halogen spot bulb and a compact 10.0 uv bulb. I keep it at a humidity of 70%. What I can be doing wrong? I hope you can help me ... Thank you very much.

20c is too cold for night temps. I would not allow temps to go below 26c day or night. They respond best , eat well & stay active between 26c - 32c, 80f - 90f.

Also, I'm not sure what bulbs are available there in Spain. But a halogen spot bulb is not good for heat. Especially at night. Can you get a ceramic heat bulb? You should be able to order one off Amazon anyway.

They need it light during day & dark ( but warm 26-32c) at night.

Hello! Of course there are ceramic bulbs ... here there is almost everything hahaha. I use the ceramic bulb at night with a thermostat at 20 ° c. For the day I use a compact bulb uv of 10.0 and the halogen bulb that produces heat and light with a temperature of about 26 ° c. When the tortoise was abroad, She was much more active ... I thought about buying an HID bulb. Is it possible that I need more temperature?

Yes, warmer temps both day and night. They don't get cold temps where they are from. Basking of 95-100, day time 80-85 night time should be no lower then 80.
@ALDABRAMAN are these temps okay for one of this age/size?

He tratado de controlar la humedad y la comida para que crezca lo más suave posible.
¿Cómo lo ves?
Espero que la piramidosis haya disminuido.
Muchas gracias amigos.
