I am new to the group and am researching before I get a Russian tortoise. I am in Florida so an outside enclosure would work I think, it would be portable so I can bring it in for hurricanes or cold winter nights. I am excited about this journey.

Nice to know there are people here to help, especially some in my state. Do you keep your tortoise outside?
Yes
My Redfoot all live outdoors.
Check out Ryan at SOUTHERN REPTILES for your Russian.
He's also here in Florida

And a member here @Southernreptiles

Are you settled on getting a Russian?
Nothing wrong with them. But the Florida climate and Redfoot tortoises are a really good fit!
You could take advantage of your location and save a TON of frustration that keepers in other parts of the world face.
