New tortoise owner could use help!

You are very fortunate to have been gifted with a nice leopard tortoise. Who knows. He could've been lost 6 months ago and lived anywhere - they are good at hiding :)

70 is not too cold ( IMO ) if.... No rain, not wet , and in the sun. The direct sunlight will heat up their shells nicely , and real sunlight is healthy for calcium absorption - they need for shell and bone. But below 70f will probably be too cold, even in the sun

Once you study the care sheets mentioned , you will see that a healthy environment for your charge just involves some forethought and a little effort. Once you get it down I think you'll find AZ a great place to raise one.

If you decide a tortoise is not for you , there are many people here on the forum, close to you , that would gladly raise him.
