Hello :)
I'm Alice and me and my SO just got 2 tortoises to join our family. We live in North East Texas.
Not sure how old our Tortoises are. The pervious owner had them for 8 months. The one on the left is Clyde and the other is Joan. We named them after Sherlock BBC.
We think Clyde is a boy and Joan is a girl. We plan to take them to the vet sometime soon.
We're new to the forum and look forward to joining the community :D

Hi Alice, and welcome to the Forum!

Clyde is either a Greek or a Hermanns, and Joan is a Russian. Most of us here on the Forum don't advocate keeping different species in the same habitat.

Your tortoises both look pretty healthy. I think you'll find a good list of food items for the Testudo species (which both of yours belong to) in the care sheets pinned at the tops of the Greek and Russian forums.

We're new to raising tortoises, would we still be able to keep them together? Is it possible for them to have babies?

Hello and welcome.

Glad you found us. I'll jump right in.

Tortoises should not be housed in pairs, and species should not be mixed. These guys each need their own enclosure.

It looks like you've gotten some bad advice judging from your substrate and food. Here is the right info to help you out:
http://www.tortoiseforum.org/threads/russian-tortoise-care-sheet.80698/
The care for these two species is very similar, so following the care sheet for each one will serve you well.

Here is what NOT to do:

Hello, Alice and a very warm welcome to Tortoise Forum to you, Joan and Clyde.
I love BBC's Sherlock, but these characters are from the American version, I think, which I haven't seen.
Have a look at http://www.tortoiseforum.org/threads/closed-chambers.32333/
http://www.tortoiseforum.org/threads/the-end-of-pyramiding.15137/
http://www.tortoiseforum.org/threads/pairs.34837/
http://www.tortoiseforum.org/thread...together-a-lesson-learned-the-hard-way.94114/
for lots more good information.

The info was helpful. Alot of people are saying to keep them separate. They've been together for almost a year according to previous owners. They're doing fine so far. But I will probably separate them along the way until we have more room around the place.

As for theur names, I meant the American Sherlock TV show called Elementary. Sorry about that :p
