Hello!

My name is Melissa, and I am from Wisconsin.
I am a proud, new parent of a Hermann's Tortoise.

He/She doesn't have a name yet.
It seems healthy. Some of it's skin looks like it may be peeling, and it looks like it is breathing kind of heavy... But I will do a little more research into these things before I freak out too much!

Pictures in a sec!

Nice looking tort, and welcome to the forum
A tortoise lungs work sort of like bellows so heavy breathing is not unheard of, you only have to worry when it is labored or sick breathing ie: runny nose, bubbles from the nose, and such.

Welcome! If it's doing the fist pumping action then that's normal :) and like others mentioned if it's wheezing or bubbly nose etc then... watch out. The skin peeling is normal, probably due to it growing but if it looks irritated than keep an eye on it in case it has some injury that is healing.
