You will want to change up the enclosure. It needs to be a closed chamber enclosure with 89% humidity and that cant happen with an open top
As for food, feed enough that it lasts all day for him to graze on and off.

Kudos for getting the enclosure ready before your little one got here!!

What are the humidity and heat readings?

Have you named him/her yet?

Where did you get him/her from?

Happy new tortoise-ing!

The humidity is still quite low which I'm a little worried about but I think it's just because I keep opening the cage to check on him/her because I'm so excited 😂. It's about 70% humidity and during the day the hot side was about 97 and the cool side was 81. Right now at night it's about 76, is this too low??
Ozark Exotics from O'Fallon Mo is where I got him/her. They do shipping too and answer all your questions! Definitely recommend.
I still haven't picked a name, and I don't even have any ideas. None of them feel right for the little tort.

Because she's a baby its best to keep the humidity in the mid-80s or higher, and that warm, too, for the first couple years. (But I bet you're right about the cause of the dip in humidity. ;) lol!)

Congratulations on your lovely new friend. I think you are right to wait to choose a name until you get to knowhim/her better - then the right one may well come into your mind. That's what happened with Zola -he put his name into my mind, and once that happened, it was obvious ! No other name would do !
