This is one of the box turtles I picked up yesterday, a lot of color for a female. I'm pretty sure she is from St Marys County Md, but not sure how long in captivity, I was told at least a year.

Did you buy her from Maryland? As selling wild caught box turtles in maryland is technically illegal. But any way she is a pretty girl. Does she have a mate from the same area?

No I did not buy her or any of them,the owner, an old friend of mine passed away late Sunday night and I was the one called to take, care for, and find homes for his turtles and tortoises, I know Maryland and Virginia laws better than most people,so don't worry I am OK. and yes there is a nice looking male with her and the other adult female.

That is a gorgeous girl. Have you thought about a little bit a Vaseline on the shell? It is amazing how nice their shell looks from just twice a year.
I enjoy taking photographs, and the Vaseline on the shell probably just looks good, but that girl has such color I'd love to see more pictures.
