Noob- not a keeper yet

Hi everyone!
I am going to become a tortoise keeper very soon, and this forum has helped me tremendously as I prepare for my new family member. The inspiration, advice, instructions, information, etc are invaluable . I am living in Houston, Tx by way of Georgia.

Thank you! Still making the final decision- I'm between a box turtle or a Russian.

Either the boxie or a russian are fine choices for your environment. It is so much easier to raise a turtle or tortoise in an environment where they are naturally comfortable. Box turtles and russians have different pursonalities and needs, but both are easily accomodated where you live. Do your research and enjoy making your choice.

Please keep in mind that Russian tortoises should have a minimum enclosure size of 8x4 feet
