Hi my name is Mary and I live in Houston, TX. I've had my very first tortoise for just over two weeks now. He is a Horsfield's (Russian) tortoise of about 15 years old (he was most likely wild caught) and I call him Viktor.I am very excited to be part of this forum, as many of the posts helped me in my research before I made the commitment to be a tortoise caretaker.
Thank you all!

Hi Mary! *waves* What was it that made you decide to even have a tortoise and why a Russian? :tort:

Well I decided on a Russian Tort because they stay fairly small.
Right now I live in an apartment complex on the third floor and don't have access to a lawn that hasn't been covered in dog feces. Also In about three months I'll be moving to Seattle, WA. and Russians have a slightly better tolerance for cooler temperatures.
