Hey I had posted that my tortoise wasn't eating a lot and all he would eat was domain lettuce. He started to eat a lot more of the romain lettuce. Even though it was romain I was just happy he was eating more. Now he won't eat at all. He doesn't even won't even eat a banana. He just lays the and sleeps and sleeps. Even in his water bowl. What should I do? Please help I'm trying my best.

hey there! no worries, everyone here can help :)

can you tell us first how you keep your pet? size of enclosure, lighting, substrate, temps....if one of those is off, it could cause your tort to stop eating.

Thanks so much for replying. I have it on coco coir the temps are high 90s at the basking and 86 every where else. He has a 12.0 uv Arcadia strip light his humidity is high 80 low 90. And he is in a 20 gallon but I'm planing to make a 6 by 5 foot enclose once I get through the holidays. I also soak him every day to every two days.

I would not let the cool end get that high....the basking should be around 95-100 and progress to a cooler side (75-78 ish if you are not running the entire enclosure on high humidity).....and the center of the enclosure should be, well, somewhere in the middle of the high and the low temps...:D

Also, with your soaks, for how long? I had a little one not eat a couple of weeks ago for a few days. I also was not sure if he had pooped because he was not pooping in his 20 minute soaks, like usual. I need visual proof of the pooping to be sure. So what I did was have him soak for an hour. Under the basking light to keep it warm, but still checking on him every 10 minutes to be sure he was safe. At about 55 minutes, he pooped. Yay. I think he was constipated. As soon as he was out of soak time, in front of food, nom-nom-nom-nom-nom. Tortoise happy. Me, happy. : )

Hi !
We have had good experience with Cucumber and mixed herb leaves from your local supermarket. We have had this approved by our vet and he says this is fine. One of our little babies absolutely loved cuey! So maybe try it to get the appeitite started and then mix it in with other more nutritious foods. Maybe even try a little cooked potato. This was also a favourite.
