I am wondering if something is normal for Russian torts sleeping habits. I have had mine for just a couple of days and found him the other day sleeping but I was so afraid I had lost him. All legs and head were spread out and he was out cold. I quickly touched him and he reacted and woke up and was very happy.

I found him like that again this morning hiding under his log. Is his normal? I always assumed they would tuck inside while they slept.

Any thoughts?

It's how they stretch and relax, helps them expose more skin so they can absorb heat better

It is normal and they will sit under their basking light like that too. It is really cute:).

If your tort is sleeping like that, he's warm and feels safe. If he pulls in, he thinks it is colder, or there's a danger.

Joe sleeps pulled in on cooler nights outdoors, by day when he is sunbathing he sprawls untidily!
