We’ve had Totty for almost a year now, she is 16-17 years old ( a friend gave her to us ) today she exhibited behaviour that we’ve not seen before ( like trying to mate with my foot and making a bleating sound ) along with quite a bit of butting our feet with her shell .
I’m thinking that the mounting onto my boot may be related to mating ? How about the shell butting ?

I did record a video but I can’t upload it .

She is a spur healed tortoise

Are you sure she isn't a he? Post pictures of the plastron and tail area if you want.

Yes, pictures of underside (plastron) please. We think you may have a male tortoise.

Well, that looks like a pretty long tail to me...but is the plastron concave any? I can't tell...acts male looks female unless the plastron is...and everybody on this forum knows I am never right...lol wait for the experts...

That’s quite funny , we’ll have to tell the previous custodian of HIM 👍🏻
Thanks Zovick
Also the "bleating" sound you mention is likely to be one of the sounds male tortoises do while getting "in the mood" - Zola made a little squeaking sound right from the first, which has got a bit louder as he has got older!
