Thinking of moving spur thighed tortoises from vivarium into an outside enclosure so they have more space but I am in the UK and weather is not great. Would something like this work? And I can attach lighting
I’ll be honest, I wouldn’t bother buying this no, you’ll be able to make something more efficient for less money when you consider the adaptions two of these would need, they wouldn’t be dig proof and there isn’t a visual barrier, and the closed sections aren’t appropriately built to maintain the heat, nor are they big enough for each of them to spend prolonged time in, we don’t always necessarily get enough warm days in the calendar year in the uk.
Your best bet would be building each of them their own large heated night box, then you could have that opening to two separate outdoor sections, it’d be cheaper to make your own frames and you could even go bigger than the one above.
From what I recall though your two tortoises are still quite young? They’ll benefit from each remaining in their own vivariums for longer with the higher humidity, though it could be worth sizing each of them up until they’re ready for outdoor living.
Once that time comes, perhaps you’ll like looking through this, nothing wrong with getting prepared, the outdoor section covers heated night box tutorials, dig proofing, predator proofing, sight barriers, landscaping, the lot, hope you like it!
Howdy folks! Hope everyone is well! As you all know, I’m a big fan of making threads that cater more towards visual learners like myself, I’ve really been wanting to create a thread full of adult enclosure inspiration for a while now, I’ve managed to find some great references over time! I do...
Ok thanks for your help! Yh they are around 2 years so still young i just thought they could do with more space as they have gotten bit bigger now but I think I will get them bigger vivariums for couple more years then build them an area outside thanks
