I wanted to get opinions and clarify what I need to do for both my leopard tortoise and sulcata for the fall and winter as far as heating goes.

They each have their own igloos. I really am not handy and can't drill a hole in the middle of the igloo for heating elements. Is there an easier and more efficient way to heat an igloo where I don't have to drill holes etc ? The leopard is 3.lbs around 10 inches and the sulcata is 6 lbs . Their enclosures are separate.

At what temperature will I have to start heating in Phoenix Arizona area .

Thank you
Dar

I thought that the Dogloo came with a big hole in the center of the top? Most everyone that I know who uses a Dogloo, puts the cord through the hole at the top of the thing.

Be careful that you get the light/heat up high enough so it doesn't burn the tortoise's back.

Where are you? In my experience igloos, or other dog houses are not suitable because you can't keep them warm enough. The door hole is much too large and lets all your warm air out.

If you are not handy, then you will need to enlist the help of someone who is. It is very easy to have a disaster if heating elements are not mounted correctly, or it it gets too hot or too cold.

I've tried all sorts of different outdoor housing stuff, and observed the attempts of others too. Here is what I have found to work the best:
