'Money plant' can mean a few different plants. Pachira Aquatica is also known as friendship tree. This plant is a Malva so might be edible, but does grow into a 75' tree with dense foliage.

If the plant you have is not that, then it might be one of a few Crassulas that get called money plant or jade plant. There are various views about Crassula Ovata (jade) but essentially it's a sedum that is high in oxalates. Oxalates are not good for tortoises and there are lots of other sedums that are not high in them.

Hope this helps a bit!
