Peas and watermelon

I have two Russian tortoises, I have some small pea plants, is it ok to but them in the cage with them?
Also is it ok to give them a small piece of watermelon, have seem so many pice of tortoises eating watermelon but every thing I read says no .

I have 3 russians now for almost 12 years and I very very sparingly feed them anything from the fruits or vegetable list. A small piece of watermelon once a month or so won't hurt but it should not be a big part of their diet, think of it as candy for them, and as for the pea plants, do you mean the plant? which should be fine, or the peas? which again should be fed sparingly.

Yes just the pea plant. As for the watermelon I was going to give them just a little pit.
