Hi!
I have a pet Russian Tortoise. Does anyone know if you need to clip their toenails regularly? Or have them clipped? I also have guinea pigs and know that you need to do theirs every week or else they grow too long and curl under and can cause foot problems. Is this the same for tortoises? Thanks for your help!

They can be trimmed if to long but the best way to handle it is to prevent it. Have some rocks or somethinf to provide a natrual way of keeping them trim.

I have the rocks all under and and charlie's substrate and still need to grind the down about every 6 weeks.

You can get slate from your local hardware store and place them around his/her enclosure. That should help wear down their nails so you don't need to clip [I'd be scared to clip toenails that small IMO]

If you HAVE to get them trimmed, I suggest going to the vet first so they can show you how to properly do it.

perhaps "clipping" is also the wrong word, I think most people use a drummel.
