When I put Chester down after picking him up he makes a hissing noise. Is thst normal?

Yes when any turtle or tortoise pulls in there head fast the air come out fast and becomes a hissing sound. It's not anything bad.

They are, however, quite capable of huffing and hissing in protest as well! Joe's objection to a vet tipping him on his side is very clear
