Pink stuff?

There is this strange pink gooey stuff in my tortoises food anyone know what this is?

OK, here's my guess about pee'ing on their food. I THINK that a tortoise pees on his food so that other tortoises might not want to eat it.

The pink stuff is probably urates.

Elsa pees in her food dish all the time. (YUCK!!!) :-( Her urates are white, though. Not sure what would make the urates pink- ones your tort eat those red tortoise kibble sticks?

No my tortoises urates are usually white also his diet hasn't changed at all. For some reason the urates are now pink

I've heard that dandelion can make urates pinkish, and that this is nothing to really worry about. Do you feed lots of dandelions?

Oh, wow- I'm so glad you said this! Elsa's urates are white so far, but she LOVES dandelions, so I'll be on the lookout.;-)
