i just thought id share with everyone what i do with my seeds for my tortoises so they have food in the summer! i have in one bin, i planted a tortoise grazing mix and the bottom a leafy mixture simular to a spring mix. i bought a 20$ greenhouse from a local store near me, and it works awesome! i bought organic soil, moistened it once and in 2 days tons of plants sprouted! planting is easy, im usually horrible with plants but it seems i couldnt fail at growing food for my tortoise. hope you guys enjoy my pics!:D

What a great idea you came up with there. I'll have to give that a try. :D

Very cool idea. I don't use a green house, but I do grow some seeds in container's slightly deeper than those. The problem I get is when the plants are too big, that their roots have nowhere to go and they die off.

Now this is 2-3 months later and I get a lot out of it, but it sucks they die off once their roots hit the bottom.

Lovely plants! I did something similar (on Terry and Terra's advice) with spring mix plastic packaging from the supermarket! :D

Great-looking, tasty sprouts with the whole box set down into the substrate so the tops are at eye level.

Taco ignores them, but Maggie is going to help me fix that! ;)

it was so easy too. my stars, sulcatas love it! the seeds i get are from carolina pet supplys and they always sprout so fast. seiryu, make sure when you plant you have lots of room. when theres not alot of room, plants get there roots tangled and take nutrients from each others roots.
